Consumer Health
These samples come from a collection of more than 300 patient leaflets I co-created while working for BMJ, the publisher of The BMJ (formerly known as The British Medical Journal). The leaflets have been licensed to clients around the globe and are also available on BMJ Best Practice.
But this is only part of the consumer health work I did while at BMJ. As a member of the small but mighty consumer health team, my project roster included developing websites on the best treatments for hundreds of conditions and creating patient decision aids for NHS England, among other projects. Clinical Content
I’ve always loved variety in my work. While at BMJ, I was fortunate to create content for clinicians as well as patients.
Most notably, I was part of the team that developed and launched BMJ Best Practice, ranked as one of the best clinical decision support tools worldwide. As a scientific editor, I coached medical contributors throughout the writing process, edited their monographs and shepherded their drafts through peer review and publication.
I also co-wrote the “Select” column for Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin (DTB), a publication for doctors, pharmacists and other medical professionals in the UK. “Select” provides monthly updates on new research and guidelines, giving readers context as well as practical guidance. You can read a few samples below.
